What is sterling silver?
Sterling silver is the term that refers to 92.5% pure silver, often also known as 925 silver. Silver is too soft for daily wear if it's 100% pure, therefore it is mixed with alloys to provide a residual hardness.
Each of Scarlett's hallmarked designs are individually tested by the London Assay Office to check they conform to the correct bullion standard.
Each piece is then hallmarked with 4 or 5 marks - the first is the maker mark which in Scarlett's case is the letters of the designers name surrounded by a heart. The lion and 925 mark denotes the piece is made from sterling silver. The Leopards' head shows it was marked in the London Assay office and the letter mark reflects the year of production.
Cleaning instructions:
If you look after your jewellery in a sensible manner, it will continue to look beautiful for years to come. We suggest cleaning our pieces with the silver cloth provided. Unfortunately, silver does tarnish and a quick rub with a silver cloth will help prevent this.
Do keep the silver cloth in the packet it arrived in because the cloth is impregnated with silver anti-tarnish power and it will dry out with exposure to the air.
