Jewellery Care

Caring for Silver Jewellery
The silver we use in our manufacturing is sterling silver 925, as indicated by the London Hallmark stamped by the Assay Office upon testing each product for purity.

All silver products can be liable to tarnish over time for many reasons. Silver and gold doesn’t like direct exposure to perfume, chlorine, cosmetics or body lotions. Humidity and body oils may also cause discolouration and affect the finish. Stress and diet also appear to have an effect due to the release of toxins through the pores, which also means that wearing silver jewellery whilst exercising can cause silver to tarnish quicker from the perspiration.

We suggest cleaning your jewellery with a fine-grade anti-tarnish silver polishing cloth .

Storing Sterling Silver Jewellery
A container that locks out air is preferable. The most common household items with this function are ziplock bags, or any other airtight bag with a non-abrasive surface.

All Scarlett’s pieces come in our specially-designed gift boxes. These are made using glue and other materials which may cause tarnishing if the silver comes into prolonged contact with the fabric. We recommend storing unworn jewellery inside an airtight bag in your jewellery box minimize the chances of this occurring.
